Bitfinex and Tether share parent company iFinex, and the relationship has drawn regulatory scrutiny and a $18.5 million settlement with the New York Attorney General. The 2016 hack that cost users 120,000 BTC (later compensated through BFX tokens) is a permanent mark on the record. The interface is powerful but shows its age.
